This exciting project kindly funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, will visit local schools to enable children to learn about the costumes, how they were made, who made them, how the actor tells a story and how objects, clothing and traditions change over time and travel when people migrate and take their culture with them.
The children can discover how people in different parts of the world wear different clothing to represent their identity.
To finish off the children can make a mask that represents a Kathakali character.
The work the children produce will be displayed with the Kathakali and Bharathanatyam costumes at The Halley Academy, The National Maritime Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
IMPORTANT: Although taking place in a school it maybe possible for a small number of people to join the workshop - please check with the school.
