KATHAKALI IN CAMBRIDGE - 19th JULY 2019 - A massive thank you to all the wonderful people who came to see Kathakali and Kuchipudi at The Storey`s Field Centre, Cambridge last night kindly arranged by Jay Visvadeva of SAMA Arts and supported by the Arts Council of England. The standing ovation that you gave to the superb actor, Kalamandalam Vijayakumar, at the end of his performance of Poothana Moksham was really moving. The Kathakali singing was by the legend Sadanam Jothi and this show was the first time his singing has been heard in the UK. Arunima Kumar and her company provided stunning performances of Kuchipudi. I especially liked how Arunima has retained the classical structure of Kuchipudi and introduced a contemporary presentation. The end was brilliant. Thank you to everyone at Storey`s Field Centre who were so helpful.

comments: performance.

Divya Ramkumar Thanks to you Barbara and Vijayakumar for blessing us with your presence and performance. What a power packed portrayal of Poothana by the legendary artist himself. The singing and Melam added another level to the evening. The books, the lecture demonstration and the short film was extremely helpful for the young dancers among the audience. Thank you for the treat
