HAPPY ONAM 

THE KALA CHETHENA KATHAKALI COMPANY WISH EVERYONE A HAPPY ONAM.

Onam is a time when people from Kerala celebrate wherever they are in the world. 

Performances of Kia Kotti kali, Kathakali, Mohiniattam and other rituals bring colour and enjoyment to villages and towns all over Kerala. 

Malayalis all over the world are preparing for Onam, snake boat races on the rivers, pookalams [flower petal designs on the floor] and a special meal called an Onam sadhya is made. Served on a banana leaf, the sadhya is an elaborate preparation, eaten mostly at mid day on Onam. At least 11-12 dishes are prepared for this meal and enjoyed by all.
